Previous Events

Campus Kiva (Pockets that care) has worked hard this semester to raise over $200. During the week of February 15th – 17th, we held an event called “Loan a little Love”.  In that time frame, members of the club walked around campus and collected donations while also informing students and staff about the goals and mission of the club.

Currently, we have been supporting an individual by the name of Sinoeurn.  Sinoeurn lives in a village of the Ponhea Krek district (Cambodia) with her three sons. She has taken on the responsibility of being the breadwinner of the family, while her sons attend school. Sinoerun works hard by earning income from rice and cassava farming. The money from the loan has helped her buy cassava seedlings and fertilizer. Campus Kiva has been able to donate $25 for Sinoern’s farm.

U of C Philanthropy Showcase

We are having an event with a bunch of other clubs known as the UofC Philanthropy showcase. The event will be held on April 5 and is meant to be a collaborative event showcasing all the work that students, staff and the university do for the community through volunteering and fundraising.

The purpose of this showcase is to increase awareness of the university’s philanthropic and community endeavors to the public so that the university is known for more than BSD, to show that while university students are busy writing papers and cramming for exams they still care about the world, to increase awareness to students so they know that the numerous bake sales they support, the additional levies they pay, and the parties that they go to that support causes actually do a lot, and to showcase the different causes that are supported at the University of Calgary together and create community.

There will be more details about the showcase, as the date draws nearer so check back soon! In the meantime, check out the Facebook Group for more info!
